When my son was young, “technology” was a remote control to shut off his TV program, and a “connected” toy meant one that was plugged into the wall.
So it’s with both amazement and delight that I’ve been following the emergence, in recent years, of tech products specifically designed for children and parenting. That fascination is what led Child’s Play to launch the Kids’ & Family Tech Expo, the only media event exclusively for tech products designed for kids and parents, taking place in New York City on September 13.
While exhibitors are still signing up – you can join them here — we’ve already got a lineup of products that just a few years ago, I never would have envisioned. Among them:
- A child’s t-shirt with built-in GPS.
- An app-based thermometer that tracks your baby’s health history
- A phone designed to connect young kids directly with grandparents
- A robot that teaches coding to preschoolers
- An augmented reality kids’ book
And so much more, from exhibitors including Spin Master, Ozobot, Lansinoh, Primo Toys, Kinsa, The Happiest Baby, Insensi, Hamilton Buhl, PlayPointe, Learnique, NAM and SmartX.
Media response to date has been tremendously positive. The Today show, the Associated Press, Parents magazine, Family Fun, FOX News, Digital Trends, Dealerscope, amNewYork, The Bump, MomTrends, Forbes, a number of trades and leading bloggers have already registered.
If you have a smart toy, family friendly app, kids’ wearable, connected baby or health item or other product that would be perfect for kids or parents, or if you’re a reporter covering parenting, tech or health, we hope you’ll join us at the Kids’ & Family Tech Expo. We’re excited about sharing the news about these innovative new products.
